Ted Williams and Carl Yastrzemski, two of the greatest players in Boston Red Sox history, left indelible marks on the game of baseball. Ted Williams, known as "The Splendid Splinter," was a two-time MVP and the last player to hit over .400 in a season, with a career .344 batting average and 521 home runs. Carl Yastrzemski, who succeeded Williams in left field, won the Triple Crown in 1967, was an 18-time All-Star, and amassed over 3,400 hits and 452 home runs in his 23-year career. Both players' legacies are celebrated in the Baseball Hall of Fame and they are remembered as icons who exemplified hitting excellence and dedication to the sport.
